63rd Course:
ANGIOGENESIS AND SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION IN ANTI-CANCER DRUG DEVELOPMENT
ERICE-SICILY: 25-30 APRIL 2001
Sponsored by the:
PROGRAMME AND LECTURERS
PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
The intracellular characterization of the signalling cascades activated during the interactions between tumour and stromal cells have the potential to identify useful targets for the development of new antitumour agents. Multiple targeting strategies directed at the tumour and activated endothelial cells could work in concert, synergise and result in tumour regression. The objective of the Course is to discuss in depth the recent advances achieved in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of angiogenesis and signal transduction for the development of new strategies in the treatment of cancer. The latest data on therapeutic agents under clinical development will be presented and critically discussed. This Course provides a unique opportunity for the participants to network, challenge current dogmas and exchange ideas in this rapidly moving field. Participants will benefit from the Course through their exposure to the latest developments and breakthroughs presented by international experts, their active participation in discussion workshops, and one-on-one interaction with the experts. Further, participants will present their research experience by posters.
The format of the Course will optimize the time and effort devoted by the invited experts and by the participating students and faculty.
