PURPOSE OF THE SCHOOL
In recent years, optical coatings play an increasing role in many future-oriented research areas and innovative industrial applications. One of the demanding challenges is presently defined by the application of DUV- and VUV- lasers in semiconductor lithography and micro-material processing. Besides lithography, optical communication technology can be considered as the application field of thin film technology with highest growth rates and extremely critical technical specifications. Prominent fields of laser technology, optics for telecommunication and precision optics in the UV spectral range are suffering from limitations in the optical thin film technology. The present workshop will be an important opportunity of bringing together experts, scientists, young researchers and graduate scholars to promote the dissemination of results and the discussion on the prospective in the field of the optical coatings.
