PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
The use of accelerators in medicine, research and industry continues to grow. Recently, synchrotron radiation machines and free electron lasers have extended accelerator applications into new disciplines. In addition, future possibilities are emerging in electric power production. Thus there is a continuing need to update the knowledge of professionals in the field of radiation protection around accelerators and to inform newcomers to the field. This Course is based on a series of talks given by acknowledged experts in the field and will provide ample opportunity for in-depth discussions on current problems.
