PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP
The main aim of the Workshop is to boost the exchange of knowledge
between younger researchers and experienced scientists working in the
field of cancer research and treatment. Cross-fertilization between
basic research and clinics is a main goal.
The Course will focus on various aspects of the biology and
clinics of major human endocrine-related tumours, including breast,
prostate, colorectal and liver cancers, as well as neuroblastoma.
Particular attention will be dedicated to: primary prevention,
genetics of cancer, molecular biology of receptors, steroid enzymes,
oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes, angiogenesis, cell-cell
interaction, apoptosis, and gene therapy. Some of the leading
scientists will present and discuss the most recent advances in the
field. Extensive time will be provided to younger researchers for the
presentation of their own experimental work and for discussions on
individual topics.
